Dr. Jacob Sorber, DDS
DENTIST
Dr. Jacob Sorber was born in Marquette, Michigan prior to his family moving to the Lansing area. He graduated from Michigan State University with a bachelor's degree in Human Biology. Dr. Sorber received his DDS degree from the University of Detroit Mercy School of Dentistry. Upon graduating from dental school, he was accepted into a General Practice Residency program with Denver Health Medical Center in Colorado. His residency had a wide scope that included restorative and prosthodontic dentistry, as well as a focus in oral surgery and endodontics. Dr. Sorber practiced as an associate in Denver for five years before returning to Michigan to be closer to his family.
DENTAL HYGIENIST
Deb was born and raised in Detroit before moving to a handful of East Coast towns. She ultimately settled here in Leelanau County where she has lived for the past 32 years. Deb has worked in a variety of dental positions and specialties, including general, pediatric, and prosthodontics. Deb started practicing as a dental hygienist when she moved to Northern Michigan. Deb’s favorite part of dental hygiene is the patient interaction. Building relationships and trust with her patients are cornerstones of Deb’s patient care. Deb excels at listening to and educating her patients to help them reach their dental and general health goals.
Deb is a master gardener and has fostered numerous dogs throughout the years. Ask her about her flower beds or her two adopted Weimaraners! She enjoys spending time with family, friends, her dogs, and likes to garden, hike, read, travel, and laugh.

DENTAL HYGIENIST
Lauren grew up in Grand Haven, Michigan. She graduated from Ferris State University where she received her degree in Dental Hygiene before moving to Traverse City. There are many things Lauren loves about being a hygienist, but what makes her feel the most fulfilled is easing patients’ dental anxieties and providing them with gentle and efficient cleanings. She works hard to make sure her patients’ questions are answered, their needs are addressed, and their concerns are heard.
Lauren loves coming home to her husband and two English bulldogs after a long day of work. She enjoys spending her free time traveling, staying busy, and experiencing new things!

REGISTERED DENTAL ASSISTANT
Sarah was born in the Cheboygan area and moved to Traverse City when she was young. She graduated from Traverse City West High School before earning her Assisting degree from Northwestern Michigan College. Sarah wears many hats in the office. You will mostly see her assisting Dr. Sorber with patients, but behind the scenes, she performs the maintenance on all of our machines and orders all of our supplies.
Sarah has two kids, one daughter that graduated from TC West and a son that is a sophomore. When she is not working, Sarah likes to play with her dogs and spend time outdoors with her family hunting and fishing.

INSURANCE COORDINATOR & SCHEDULER
Jody was born in Houston, Texas and grew up in the Dallas–Fort Worth area. She graduated from the University of North Texas with a degree in marketing and then moved to Grand Rapids, Michigan in 2007 to pursue her professional jet ski career. She later moved to Leelanau County in 2015.
Jody has worked in the dental industry for more than 15 years. She started her career processing dental claims for Aetna insurance and worked there for eight years before switching to the clinical side of dentistry. Jody has been with our office since 2020. Jody is a dental insurance guru and can answer all of your insurance questions. Jody has three daughters that attend Glen Lake Schools. In her free time, she enjoys being outdoors, spending time with her daughters, and working on her house.

Penny
RECEPTION AND SCHEDULER
Penny was born and raised in Leelanau County. She is a familiar face to our dental office and helps Jody as an Office Assistant on a part-time basis. Penny was an elementary teacher in Suttons Bay for twenty-five years where she taught many of our current patients. She received her bachelor’s degree from Aquinas College and her master’s degree from Michigan State University.
When Penny is not at the dental office, she helps her husband Scott, with office work related to their cherry business. They have twin sons, Austin and Justin. Penny enjoys working in her perennial and vegetable garden as well as spending time at their lake house in Gaylord. She is excited to be back in our dental office and loves greeting patients each day!
