ACCEPTING NEW PATIENTS

Thank you for your interest in West Bay Family Dental.

The fact that you made it here, to this part of our website, means that you are one step closer to finding a dental home and taking charge of your oral health!

Here’s what you can expect from your first visit:

A Warm Welcome

Leelanau County is a growing community. We feel blessed to be a part of it and we welcome all our new patients—whether you are new to the area or just changing dental offices. We will do everything we can to make you feel at home and make transitioning your dental records as easy as possible.

Review of Health and Dental Information

This starts with a few simple, standard forms so that we can get to know a little more about you, including your health and dental history, HIPAA form, as well as some information for you about our office. If you have radiographs from a previous dental office, we can help you have them transferred to us. We will discuss your concerns and your goals—what do you want for your teeth?

Exam

Our exam typically starts with radiographs. If you have up-to-date radiographs that have been transferred from another office, we can use those. If not, it is not a problem. Radiographs are quick, easy, and necessary for us to get the full picture of your oral health. Next, our hygienist will do a thorough periodontal exam. This means checking your gum health and establishing the type of dental cleaning that you will need. Lastly, Dr. Sorber will go tooth-by-tooth to see what dental work you have had, check the status of your existing teeth and fillings, and determine if there is any treatment needed.

Personalized Treatment Plan

The last part of your visit involves discussion of your treatment plan. This is where your desires and our findings and expertise come together to formulate a plan. We want to translate all of our findings to you and offer a few different options for treatment. Whether your treatment plan is simply one cleaning every six months or involves implants, braces, or prosthetics, we will guide you in your decision-making by offering up all the information that we have available.
